Regular Season Kicks off!

Just like that the preseason is over and the Regular season has started. The Lakers ended the preseason with a record of 2-6, a improvement on their last 2 or 3 preseasons. Their performance was promising and perhaps they might have a better record this season. The coaching staff has trimmed their final roster to 15 players. The preseason was not without surprises, the starting lineup was not finalized until the day before the deadline. As mentioned before, head coach Luke Walton surprisingly went with Nick Young at the shooting guard position over Jordan Clarkson. So far so good, the change seems to have played off. The Lakers kicked off their first game of the season at home against James Harden and the Houston Rockets.

The game was not disappointing, as the offense played at a very high pace even though both teams lacked defense. At halftime after a hard fought battle the score was 71-63! At the break, Coach Walton rallied the team and motivated the players to play defense. The Lakers dominated on both ends of the court and led the comeback with Jordan Clarkson’s 25 points off the bench. His efforts led to a much needed first victory for the 2016-2017 season, and hopefully more to come. The Lakers are now on a 4 game road trip this week, let me know what you think on how they handle the pressure of not playing at home.

  1. I love basketball and I love this post! I am so glad that NBA is back! I can’t wait to see how everything turns out. I love how you gave stats to back up what you were saying. Not playing at home will be tough because it is not what they are used to but I don’t think they will have much of a problem,
