With the young core of Russell, Clarkson, Ingram, Nance Jr., and Randle set in place these group of guys are legit. Everyone that has read or watched this Lakers group play has seen this by now. Assuming the Lakers do not go back to their old ways of chasing high profile players and making bad trades – the Lakers will be great again. Do not get me wrong, the Lakers might have to sign a player like Klay Thompson or maybe even Paul George of the Pacers later on down the road. Perhaps, they have learned the hard way that these players want to join a team that is built to win.
With the key players than I listed earlier they have the key ingredients. Randle (7th pick in 2014), a player that has dominated on every level, is an absolute beast. In his second year, he is averaging 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Clarkson (46th pick in 2014), also in his second year, is on a tear. After being selected as 1st team all rookie, he is now in the running for 6th man of the year. Russell (2nd pick in 2015), upped his mediocre averages his rookie year to 16 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal. Nance (27th pick in 2015 draft), in my opinion was the steal of the draft. He might not average a lot of points and rebounds for a big guy, but he has a amazing motor. Never stopping and always pursuing the ball. Such a great player. Lastly, Brandon Ingram (2nd pick in 2016), a razor thin body frame does not stop him from being a great defender and ball handler. Do you think they can rebuild fast with this core?
